About 1-On-1-Resumes.com...
Pricing Points, Fast Facts, BBB, Complaints

The draw to this service has got to be the relatively low price. Then they go on to guarantee job interviews with the resume they create.

Now I'll admit, I like a good bargain as well as the next guy. Who doesn't want to pay around a hundred bucks for a professionally-written resume (assuming 1-5 years experience in the workforce)?

But sometimes, you really do get what you pay for. Alas, this appears to be one of those times.

What I Liked (the Pros)

Not much. I suppose the website looks pretty.

What I Didn't Like (the Cons)

No indication that the writers are industry certified. They call their writers "professional," but that's about it.
No telephone interview or consultation with your writer.
Pricing is misleading.Only when you're deep into the ordering process do you realize that the "professional-level" price is good for only 1-5 years of career history. If you need your resume to go back more than five years, say 6-10 years, you'll pay more. Over 10 years, more still.
Sample resumes posted on their site are seriously flawed. Of the three samples I studied, I noted graphic design overkill, font colors that made it hard to read, run-on sentences, and solid blocks of text crying out for a little white space. All this--on what should be shining examples of workmanship. Not good.
The shear volume of complaints on the Net. And so many CAPITAL LETTERS IN THOSE COMPLAINTS. And exclamation marks!!!!!

Review Summary and Recommendation

A bargain is only a bargain if you're getting value for your dollar. While seemingly cheap, the money spent with this company buys you a resume that will likely not be competitive in the marketplace -- if the samples on their website are any indication. Then of course there's the whole issue of excessive and vocal customer complaints.

Here it is: If you want to improve the odds of landing a job sooner rather than later, my advice is to save yourself what little money they're charging and apply that to a service with a better BBB score, fewer or no complaints dogging them, and a policy of speaking with and conducting telephone interviews with their clients.

Better Business Bureau:

"C" on a scale of A+ to F.

Company is NOT a BBB Accredited Business. Indeed, for the longest time the company used the BBB logo on their website, in violation of BBB policy and eliciting the following response:

"The name and logo of the Better Business Bureau is a federally registered trademark owned and controlled by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc. (CBBB) The CBBB does not allow any company to use the name or logo without first signing a use agreement form and never as an implied endorsement. The BBB of Central Florida has written to this company requesting they remove all mention of membership in the BBB from their advertising as the company is not an accredited business of the Better Business Bureau. The company has not honored this request to date."

Complaints:

The number of complaints filed with the BBB "for a business of this size" was excessive (15 over a 3-year period), and contributed to lowering the rating. Factors which helped raise the BBB rating include the length of time the company has been in business.

FYI: the majority of complaints filed with the BBB have to do with problems with the "Product/Service."

There are a number of complaints posted on Internet forums, most notably from the sites RipOffReport.com, ComplaintsBoard.com and Complaints.com. Typically, complaints note poor writing quality and/or poor customer relations.
