A relative newcomer in a crowded field, CraftResumes.com initially offered a one-size-fits-all pricing plan. But within months, they had subdivided services into categories and jacked up the prices.

And all the while, their BBB scores sank like a stone.

Let's jump right to it.

What I Liked (the Pros)
Know your writer. The company identifies their writers by name and photo, offers a brief bio and specialization, and then lines up personal testimonials from clients. What's more, you can view samples of each writer's work, and see how many projects they've completed (and how many they're currently working on). If you like what you see, you can hire that specific writer.
Telephone consultation. Your writer will conduct a 45-minute telephone/Skype interview to better determine your career goals and clarify any issues around your work history.
Sample resumes display good workmanship; the writing quality is quite professional, layouts are contemporary, and use of bullet points and design elements are effective.
Money back? You're covered by a 100% money back guarantee for up to 3 days after receiving the first draft of your resume. You can request any changes to it during that time -- and receive the final document -- or simply request your money back. NOTE: Read the Cons to see why this provision may be questionable.

What I Didn't Like (the Cons)

I'm worried about the F rating with the BBB. And specifically, I'm worried because of the reasoning behind the score: a near total lack of concern by the company to customer complaints. To me, this is a red flag that trumps all other positives.

For example: think you're due your money back? If the company is as unresponsive as the BBB implies good luck with that.
That "relative newcomer" status that I mentioned in the opening. That's not a knock on the company per se, but more a reflection of my caution when it comes to new products and services.

Review Summary and Recommendation

The writers all appear to have industry certification, and hail from diverse backgrounds. That's good. But the fact that you can choose your writer after having reviewed his/her bio, sample resumes and testimonials is huge.

That said, the sorry rating with the BBB gives me a huge pause. Until that changes for the better, I can't recommend this company.
