Initial Thoughts, Pros & Cons, Recommendation
About ResumeMyCareer...
Pricing Points, Fast Facts, BBB, Complaints

At first blush, it seems ResumeMyCareer.com has all their ducks in a row. The company claims certified writers conduct actual phone conversations with their clients. That resumes are built from scratch (no templates). That turnaround is prompt. And the price is reasonable. But wait--why then does the Better Business Bureau give them an "F" rating? Turns out, for good reason. Those in a hurry might want to start with the Cons, below.

What I Liked (the Pros)

Prices start at $99 for a resume alone. That's quite reasonable--but only if the quality is there. Is it? Keep reading.
The guarantee seems reasonable, given the price. No, they don't promise a job or an interview or your money back if you're not satisfied. Rather, they promise to their clients that they will "continue to re-write their documents until they are fully satisfied with them." Sounds OK, right? Keep reading.
They've got some longevity about them. On the website, they state: "ResumeMyCareer.com was formed in 2004." Well, not so fast.

What I Didn't Like (the Cons)

Poor Quality. Remember that reasonable price? A good many clients are wishing they had their reasonable money back. Why? Well, this complaint posted on the BBB's website sums up a lot of the sentiment: "He (the writer) returned a muddled cut-and-pasted resume that would not be acceptable anywhere. He used pre-canned paragraphs that had nothing to do with my occupation, omitted my credentials that are necessary for my occupation, put wrong employment dates. And added activities to my resume that would put my license at risk."
Ignored Guarantee. Apparently, the writers who work for this company didn't get the memo regarding the guarantee. Instead of providing free and unlimited revisions until the client is satisfied, there are complaints heaped upon complaints of clients being told that a revision is not in the cards, or that they've now imposed a "time frame" on revisions, or that any revision would cost them more money. In some cases, writers actually got belligerent with clients.
Longevity in Question. Remember on the website, the company stated: "ResumeMyCareer.com was formed in 2004." A simple search of the WHOIS database for all public websites reveals the creation date for the company's domain name to be February 3, 2009. Now for all I know, the company--by some other name--may have existed prior to 2009. But the name "ResumeMyCareer.com" has only been around for five years. And not the ten years that the company wants you to believe.
Not a Sample In Sight. No sample resumes are posted on the company's website. Now, maybe there's a good reason for that, but prospective customers should consider that a red flag.
Start complaining, and customer service goes into a black hole.

Review Summary and Recommendation

The lowest rating on the BBB scale (an "F"). No samples to preview. Complaints piling up on the internet. To be honest, I see no reason to send this company my money.

My advice? Save yourself the heartache and hunt down a service with a higher BBB score and few or no complaints dogging them. On our home page, you'll find the most popular online resume writing services who make the grade (tip: look for Better Business Bureau scores of A+ or A).

Complaints:

64 complaints have been filed with the BBB against the business in the past 3 years. Of those, the majority have to do with Delivery Issues (getting the resume to the customer in the time frame promised), problems with the Product/Service, and Advertising/Sales Issues.

Of those 64 complaints, the company to date has failed to respond to 45.

There are a number of complaints posted on Internet forums, most notably from the sites RipOffReport.com and ComplaintsBoard.com. Typically, complaints note unreliable delivery, boilerplate formats and phrasing, grammatical errors, generally poor writing quality, and poor--even confrontational--customer service.

These two examples are fairly typical of complaints found on internet forums:

"I had provided my Project Manager resume for professional touch and they gave me a software engineer resume in a cookie cutter template." --Source

"The site says a 24 hour turn around, it took over 2 weeks to get the first draft and when I was not happy with it, Justin took on an attitude and started yelling at me." --Source
